Crimean Republic Association Ekologiya I Mir (CRAEM) is a non-government ecological organization that was established in May 1988 at the Public Crimean Forum, an assembly of those who protested against the construction of a Crimean Nuclear Station on the peninsula. The organization united researchers, university students, journalists, laymen, and pensioners from many different Crimean cities and villages. The main objective of CRAEM from 1988-1990 was to halt the construction of the Crimean Nuclear Station, an effort that was accomplished in 1990.
The mission of CRAEM is to act for the protection and well-being of Crimea's nature, the Crimean people, and for peace in the region.
The main objectives of CRAEM are:

to restore and maintain the unique Crimean natural world and to maintain peace in the region

to facilitate free and independent development of the people of multi-ethnic Crimea based on an ethical attitude towards their natural and cultural environment

to strive to reach a well-balanced and steady social development in Crimea based on an optimal combination of a higher quality of life and the necessary rate of environmental production

to promote an integrated environmental policy involving all the Azov and Black Sea area countries that will ensure the realization of ecological security requirements as well as maintenance and reproduction of natural resources
CRAEM has worked successfully on environmental and community development issues in the region for over 15 years, addressing issues varying from advocacy of ecological rights to working up sustainable development plans for Crimean localities.
Our thematic priorities are:

to shorten considerably home-waste flows and develop recycling

to achieve people supply with clean drinking water (firstly free from chlororganic substances)

to achieve territory/land planning and usage which provide sustainability and environmental safety

to raise awareness about food products quality and improve quality of accessible food products

to diminish negative environmental impact of traditional energetics through energy saving and development of renewable energy sources

to raise awareness related to the environment / sustainable development and action by people protecting their environmental rights
